ICNet International Ltd launches antimicrobial stewardship software, ABX Alert

The developer of the world’s number one healthcare associated infection (HACI) case management and surveillance software is delighted to announce the launch of the latest addition to their suite of products - ABX Alert.

The launch of this tool, to coincide with European Antibiotic Awareness Day 2011, at the Federation of Infection Societies Meeting in Manchester (England), adds the antimicrobial stewardship (AS) team to those who can benefit from the real time, flexible and innovative HCAI reducing applications available from ICNet.

The need for salient, relevant and accurate data in AS is ever increasing and practitioners are being asked to provide more evidence based information for their areas of responsibility. Recent published ARHAI and NICE guidelines call for both infection surveillance antimicrobial stewardship, both supported through the ABX Alert tools which automates the collation of the relevant data required and proactively alerts to inappropriate prescriptions and increasing incidences of HCAI.

Infection control teams have benefited from the collation of this information for over 10 years with ICNet and that experience has now been applied to AS.

ABX Alert is a real-time, customisable and web-based tool which enables the accurate, timely and evidence based monitoring of appropriate antimicrobial prescribing within a healthcare facility. The application enables the most appropriate care for the individual, whilst enabling the AS team to respond with local resistance patterns as an evidence base.

The innovative alarm engine allows for the 24/7 monitoring of the local antimicrobial guidelines and alerting to deviance from them. It also allows for additional areas of interest to be monitored according to the individual user’s responsibility and interests.

Fully customisable reports not only allows for drug utilisation generation but for the inclusion of additional information from microbiology and patient location. These have been designed to help AS teams meet the reporting demands made on them, quickly, easily and accurately.

Pilot sites in the UK and USA are in the process of installing ABX Alert with many other sites registering an interest in the powerful features of the application.

ICNet International Ltd are delighted to offer online demonstrations to interested parties which can be found at our website.
